From HSU Expertise Directory
The University Ombudsperson provides confidential, informal, thoughtful, impartial, mediation, conflict resolution, and informational services, to the extent permitted by applicable law, to students, faculty and staff, with a primary focus on student issues/concerns. The Ombudsperson will only address issues that do not involve the terms and conditions of employment or other matters within the scope of bargaining. Those issues will be directed to the grievance process negotiated by the appropriate collective bargaining unit. The Ombudsperson serves as a facilitator and a resource to promote a positive campus climate and environment by facilitating problem resolutions through listening, providing information, making referrals to other campus resources and identifying options and alternatives. -Rollin Richmond, email to University community, May 23, 2003
